Caesar, De Bello Gallico: Book One
The Civil Wars: 1.4-1.7: English Translation
(1.4) For this reason, Helvetii likewise excel the remaining Gauls in virtues, b/c they fight nearly daily battles with Germans, while they either keep them off their (Helvetii's) territory, or themselves wage war in their (German) territory.
(1.5) One division of them (the Gauls) which has been said to be held by Gauls, takes its beginning from the river Rhone; it is bounded the river Garumna, the Ocean by the territories of the Belgians; it even reaches to the Rhine at the side of Sequani and Helvetii;
(1.6) Belgians rise from the furthest territories of Gaul; reach to the lower part of the river Rhine; they look toward the north and the east.
(1.7) Aquitania reaches from the river Garumna to the Pyrenees mountains and to that part of the Ocean which is next to Spain; it faces the north west.
